MOTORISTS who use the A92 Regional Road southbound can look forward to a smoother road surface following the completion of improvement works from Crossgates to the Halbeath roundabout.

A £210,000 investment by Transport Scotland will see a 1.3km stretch of the route repaired and resurfaced with the road markings refreshed.

The works, which started on Sunday 9th for nine nights (excluding Friday and Saturday nights), will require some traffic management between 19.30pm and 06.30am. A convoy system with a 10mph speed limit will be used to help keep workers and motorists safe during this time.

In addition, it will be necessary to close the southbound lane during certain phases of the work. Access to the Halbeath roundabout will be maintained via a short diversion through the nearby industrial estate.

Andy Thompson, BEAR Scotland’s North East Unit Representative, said, “The work is being carried out overnight to minimise delays. We would, however, encourage motorists to plan their journeys in advance and allow some extra time.” Surveying works are also to be carried out this Sunday on the A92 from Forgan Roundabout to Five Roads Roundabout, near Newport-on-Tay. This is to inform the development of future safety improvements to the road layout.

This means that the southbound lane of the A92 will be closed to traffic between 9am and 3pm. A local diversion will be in place at Forgan Roundabout via the A914 and back to Five Roads Roundabout. The northbound lane will remain open and traffic will be controlled using Stop/Go traffic control.

Mr Thompson added, “We need to carry out the survey works to assist in the development of safety improvements on the A92 and we would urge road users to bear with us until these are carried-out.

“We are doing this on a Sunday when there is less traffic.”
