TRIBUTES have been heaped on a couple who made a major impact on the local business community over almost three decades.
Husband and wife team, Jennifer and Jim Morman, died within three months of each other, aged sixty, after being struck down by cancer.
They were married for forty years and worked together for 30 of them as they built up Delmor, in Cowdenbeath, into a highly successful estate agents.
Jennifer was diagnosed with cancer in April last year while Jim had suffered from the condition since 2007. Jennifer found her health deteriorating very quickly as the autumn began and died in September. Jim never really recovered from the lost of his wife and died at the end of the year after a four year battle against the illness.
Angela Lawrie, who worked with the duo for 26 years, bought over the High Street business last year and this week talked of the magnificent grounding she had received from the couple, over two decades. She told the Times, "Jim and Jennifer were an amazing couple who developed such a wide knowledge of the estate agency and financial services industries.
"I was very lucky to be able to work with them and I learned so much which I am now able to use myself as I try to maintain the standards set by them."
Said Chic Robb, who is a Cowdenbeath man who has become a major figure in the local financial services sector, "I've known Jim and Jenny for a long time, but only got to know them really well over the last few years. They always worked as a team and their roots have always been in Cowdenbeath and this complemented their business which was established there.
"They always helped the local people to buy and sell their council houses when that came on the scene with expert advice. They will be sadly missed by myself and Bridget and all the staff at Kingdom Investments."
Jim was born and brought up in Hill of Beath while Jenny was a Cowdenbeath girl and they met while on a holiday in Blackpool as 17 year-olds.
Jennifer worked with Pearl Assurance in her early years while Jim was in the mining industry. As the coal industry shrank he went to work at Rosyth Dockyard but he soon decided to join the estate agency industry and the pair set up Delmor in 1982 on Cowdenbeath High Street.
They later set up branches in Leven and Kirkcaldy but when Jim became ill in 2007 they sold off these outlets to concentrate on the High Street business, which moved across the road when their office was one of the buildings which was affected by subsidence in the early part of the last decade!
Angela Lawrie stated her determination to the Times in the bid to ensure that Delmor continued to provide the best of services for their clients in the way that her two mentors would have demanded.

Very, very sad. During this time of deep darkness and sadness, my thoughts are with everyone who knew them. The contribution that they made serving these communities will never go forgotten.
