POLICE have raided a house in Lochgelly, seizing drugs worth £1800.

A 34-year-old male and a 19-year-old female have now been reported for various offences under the Misuse of Drugs Act.

The high visibility raid took place at an address in Cook Square on Friday 3rd September. Police now say they are planning more raids in the Cowdenbeath area following information from the public.

Des Fitzgerald, Community Ward Sergeant for the Cardenden area said, "There is current intelligence to support drug related offences ongoing within our communities and we will target those responsible and report those committing offences accordingly.

"It is vitally important to speak to local Police Officers and I would ask the public to not suffer in silence."

Cowdenbeath Area Chief Inspector Ross Bennet said, "In continuing to address this issue in such a pro-active manner, we as a community, are sending a clear message, that those persons who are involved in this illegal activity will not be tolerated."

Since April, officers at Cowdenbeath, Benarty and Cardenden have carried out numerous raids that have targeted addresses in the wider Cowdenbeath area.

As a result thousands of pounds worth of drugs - including heroin, amphetamine, cannabis and ecstasy - have been removed from the streets.

Chief Inspector Bennet added, "These operations could not have gone ahead without the assistance of our communities and I would take this opportunity to thank all those members of our community who have provided us with information during this period.

If you Fife Constabulary on 0845 600 5702 or through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. All information received will always be dealt with in the strictest confidence."
