A LOCHGELLY youngster has helped the fight against breast cancer by staging a charity birthday ball in aid of the cause.
Demi Carrie (11) decided she wanted to do something to thank the people who help her mum, who was diagnosed with breast cancer six years ago.
This is the second time Demi has donated money for cancer as when she was six years old she broke her wrist and asked people to pay £1 for signing her cast. On that occasion she raised £50 which went to the hemotology unit at Queen Margaret Hospital.
Demi's birthday bash raised a fantastic £707 which went to the Avon Breakthrough Breast Cancer Charity.
Demi would like to thank all the local businesses who donated prizes for the raffle and eferyone for their generous donations. A great night was enjoyed by all who attended the event in the Old Ship Inn.
Demi asked everyone to donate to charity instead of buying a present for her mum.
Her parents told the Times they were extremely proud of her for her efforts.
