A COWDENBEATH couple whose daughter took her own life are to set up a charity to help young people and their families cope with suicide.

Candice Easton (left) was only 21 when she died in March, 2005.

Now parents Callum and Jackie Easton, Glenfield Crescent will run the Curly Star Foundation in memory of their popular daughter.

Jackie (47) explained, "It's more of a support service for young people and also parents who have lost their children through suicide. It will give them somewhere to speak.

"Eventually we hope to go into schools and colleges to talk of the impact of suicide. We want a real support mechanism because that's what's lacking in Fife."

Reflecting on memories of her much missed daughter, who worked as a travel agent at Thomas Cook in Cowdenbeath, she said, "She was very bubbly and loved travelling.

"Candice was very supportive towards her two brothers, Callum (23) and Chad (18), and a wonderful daughter.

"She was very vivacious so (her death) was a complete and utter shock.

"Over 600 people attended her funeral and that comforted us because it showed how popular she was."
