lochore Meadows Equestrian Centre is celebrating after scooping a hat-trick of prestigious awards.
The centre has been voted the Scottish Farmers Equestrian Service Provider of 2010. It has has also been awarded Visit Scotland four star activity centre status from the Scottish Tourist Board - the only centre in Fife and one of only two equestrian centres in Scotland to achieve this. In addition to these accolades, Emily Paterson has been awarded Best Student, most likely to succeed in the equestrian industry, by Elmwood College and will now stay at the Lochore centre to achieve her level 3 and UK coaching certificates.
The awards are open to the whole of Scotland and are highly sought after within the equestrian community. They were presented during a ceremony at the Royal Highland Show, which is the showcase of Scotland's farming and equestrian industry.
The team of Iain and Sandra Gauld bought the riding school at Lochore three years ago after reducing their farming operation. Nick Brown and Lynne Ferris now manage what is a successful multi-discipline equestrian centre, backed by a dedicated team of coaches and students.
With links to Elmwood College, the centre runs a successful work-based programme for students to achieve NVQ qualifications. It also has a young riders club, providing children with the opportunity to learn to care for their ponies as well as learning to horse ride. With greatly improved skills and teamwork, the children have progressed much quicker and confidence has been boosted. There are also plans for a new club later this year which will aim to give children the opportunity to take extra training sessions in order to take their ponies out to competitions.
