POLICE have raided a home in Cardenden, recovering £4500 worth of drugs.
The drugs bust, carried out by Cowdenbeath and Benarty police officers last Monday, led to four adults being reported for offences under the Misuse of Drugs Act.
Police have now carried out 12 successful operations since April, targeting addresses in the wider Cowdenbeath area.
As a result of these operations 26 people have been reported for various drug offences with a total of £18,500 worth of drugs including heroin, amphetamines, cannabis and ecstasy being removed from the streets.
Cowdenbeath Area Chief Inspector Ross Bennet said, "This operation is further evidence of our local commitment to our wider Community Engagement priorities and also that we are effectively tackling directly those persons involved in the sale or supply of illegal substances in the Cowdenbeath area.
"In continuing to address this issue in such a pro-active manner, we as a community, are sending a clear message, that those persons who are involved in this illegal activity will not be tolerated.
"These operations could not have gone ahead without the assistance of our communities and I would take this opportunity to thank all those members of our communities who have provided us with information during this period.
"I would again ask all members of our community, tell us about the supply of drugs in the Cowdenbeath area by contacting Fife Constabulary."
Surprise visit
Earlier this month the Times reported how a Ballingry address received a similar surprise visit by police, leading to a man and woman being reported for Drug offences.
PS Des Fitzgerald, community sergeant for the Cardenden area, said he was pleased that the latest operation, carried out in conjunction with Cowdenbeath CID, was helping rid the area of illegal drugs.
He said, "Operations in respect of misuse are ongoing within the entire Cowdenbeath area and I am pleased to report that we are making further progress in the fight to rid our streets of illegal drugs.
"All officers of Fife Constabulary are committed to reducing the harm caused by these substances and interrupting the supply of these drugs locally within our communities.
"I will further reiterate, that where there is current intelligence to support drug related offences ongoing within our communities we will target those responsible and report those committing offences accordingly.
"In doing so Fife Constabulary are continuing to build on our successes to date, as well as providing a reassuring presence, tackling drug crime and making our neighbourhoods safer places to live.
"Only by working together can we decrease crime in our communities. It is vitally important to speak to local police officers and I would ask the public to not suffer in silence."
