THE sun shone on Cowdenbeath Gala on Saturday as participants rolled back the years to celebrate with an 'Old Cowdenbeath' theme.
The colourful gala parade, led by the Civic Week queen and princesses, set off from Woodend Industrial Estate and processed down the High Street to the park for an afternoon of fun and games including pony rides and stalls.
Bands taking part in the parade were Kingdom Brass, Dunfermline Town Brass, Buckhaven and Methil Brass Band, Kelty and Blairadam Pipe Band, Kirkcaldy and District Pipe Band, Les Wood and his Dixielanders, Rosanate Drumming Band, with Brian Anderson, Kennoway Pipe and Tullis Russell providing entertainment on the High Street. Marchers included the children from St Brides and Hill of Beath Primary Schools.
The park entertainment was split across two arenas and included Kingdom Brass Band juniors and seniors and a display of karate by the Karate Youth Initiative who train at Dunfermline Police Station. Children's favourite Cobblers the Clown provided plenty of laughs.
The arena also hosted the final of the boys football tournament between Crossgates and Foulford Primaries. The match finished 2-2 but Crossgates came through 4-2 after extra time.
A total of seven teams had contested the earlier rounds of the five-a-side football schools tournament, held at the leisure centre, with squads from Hill of Beath and St Brides joining those from Crossgates and Foulford.
