There was a lot of police activity in the Braemount area on Saturday.

A MAN appeared on a petition alleging murder at Dunfermline Sheriff Court on Monday, following a weekend incident in Cowdenbeath.

Alistair Thomson (42), of Fairy Fa' Crescent, Crossgates, appeared in private before Sheriff Craig McSherry, in connection with the death of a man in a house in Braemount on Saturday.

Thomson made no plea or declaration and was remanded in custody pending further inquiries.

Police were very active in the Braemount area of the town on Saturday after the alarm had been raised. Forensic teams cordoned off stretches of the pavement as they carried out their extensive enquiries which took most of the day. At the time of going to press the name of the deceased man had not yet been released by police.
