Police have warned car owners to lock away valuables following a spate of break-ins.

Thieves have been targeting vehicles where valuables are left visible, according to Inspector Ken Stickings.

'As satellite navigation systems become more and more popular with motorists, so they become more popular with thieves,' he said.

'Disconnect and remove your sat nav every time you leave your car. Remember to remove the suction mounted fittings and don"t leave the tell-tale suction mark on the window,' Inspector Stickings added.

Motorists have also been advised to park in well-lit areas and set alarms or immobilising device.'

Further information and advice is available from Community Safety Officers based at Cowdenbeath Police Station.
