Workers at Mossmorran"s ethylene plant walked out in support of strikers at Lindsey Oil Refinery.

Shell confirmed that 150 contract staff who perform 'routine maintenance' opted to take unofficial strike action at 9.30 am this morning.

A spokeswoman for Shell said, 'Operations at Mossmorran continue as normal. This has had no impact on safety.

'They are not Shell employees. They work for Cape Industrial Services and the Wood Group.'

Thousands of workers across the country have also walked out in support of 647 staff sacked from the lindsey refinery in Lincolnshire.

The workers had accused owners Total of breaking an agreement not to cut jobs while there were vacancies elsewhere on the site. Total say no such agreement was in place.
