A Crosshill youth who attacked his friend after an argument was ordered to be detained for three and a half years when he appeared at Dunfermline Sheriff Court.
Adam Easson (18), who appeared from custody last Wednesday, admitted that on 3rd November last year he was in possession of a knife in Kirkland Gardens, Ballingry; on 4th February he assaulted Grant Malcolm by repeatedly punching him on the head and body, knocking him to the ground and repeatedly kicking him on his head and body to his injury; that on 4th February he assaulted John Melville by attempting to punch him and repeatedly kicking him on the legs to his injury; and on the same date assaulting Sergeant John Graham in Dunfermline Police Station by spitting at him.
Sheriff Craig McSherry was told that as regards charge one two women who were at a friend's house spotted the accused and noticed he was carrying a knife. Police were called and Easson, who threw the knife away, was arrested.
In relation to the second charge Easson was at Mr Malcolm's and they were chatting. He claimed he had slept with Mr Malcolm's girlfriend and an argument followed which spilled out onto the street.
Mr Melville was one of the residents who had gone out onto the street to see what was wrong. He saw Mr Malcolm lying on the ground and went over to him and dragged Easson away. Accused then tried to punch Mr Melville.
As this was happening Mr Malcolm got up and started walking away but Easson followed him and started punching him on the face.
Mr Malcolm was left with two black eyes, bruising and a cut to his right ear which required four stitches.
Easson told police that he had been drinking and could not remember much about the fight.
Sheriff McSherry back-dated the sentence to 5th February.
