League bosses were forced to reverse a decision to televise Hearts’ clash with Rangers a day later than the other games after both the Jambos and Hibernian accused them of compromising “sporting integrity” if the Ibrox club were allowed to play their final match 24 hours after their rivals.

The game at Tynecastle was moved back to Saturday but with the game still set to be broadcast live, kick-off has been set for 12.15pm and now all of the Championship’s matches - including Cowden’s crucial trip to Alloa - will kick off simultaneously.

But Nicholl said, “Someone told me that it’s because of TV but I’m confused as to why we have to play at 12.15pm as our game has nothing to do with that.

“But our game with Falkirk was brought forward three weeks when we didn’t agree to it. We agreed with them to play on 21st April after their Scottish Cup semi-final, or on the Wednesday if their game was on the Sunday, but were then told that the game would be played in March and that was it.

"There was no consultation on that, and we didn’t want another game in March as our boys were out on their feet and it affected us going into April. I don’t understand why we aren’t playing Alloa at 3pm on a Saturday.”
