THE first Beach Highland Games in Scotland takes place this Saturday forenoon at Kirkcaldy.
Lochgelly man, Don Campbell, who has organised the venture, is hoping for a nice day weatherwise after suffering a succession of poor days for this year’s Highland Games programme, where he is the handicapper.
“We have had some really wet games days in 2015 but hopefully the sun will shine for this unique event on the beach at Kirkcaldy,” he said.
The Games start at 10am on the stretch of beach opposite the Mercat Shopping Centre and there will be a full programme of running, heavies, pipe bands and Highland Dancing.
The Games will run over three hours as things have to be wound up before the tide comes in mid afternoon.
