LOCHGELLY’S Station Road is to have a major speed reduction measure placed on it.

Cowdenbeath Area Committee heard on Wednesday that the road linking Benarty with the town was getting increasingly busy and the roads department’s Alan Davidson told councillors that concerns had been raised in relation to traffic speeds and the safety of pedestrians.

“The specific area under review is at the controlled pdedestrian crossing adjacent to to St Patrick’s Primary School and it is proposed to install a table to reduce speeds ,” he said.

Lochgelly and Cardenden Councillor Mark Hood said that this was a measure that was badly needed and added, “Station Road is a very busy road.

“The traffic simply rushes past the school and anything that can be done to help the situation has to be welcomed.”
