LOCHGELLY Community Council has appealed to the people of the town to give the organisation their views on the proposed Hilton Wind Farm plan.

The proposal would see six turbines constructed on land near Lochore Meadows Country Park, immediately to the north of Lochgelly, and it would be clearly seen from the town.

The community council are to launch their largest ever residents’ consultation. Throughout the summer community councillors will be engaging with the people of the town to seek their views on the proposed Community Wind Farm at Hilton Farm, near Kelty.

Members of LCC will be leafleting residents, holding street stalls at the likes of the Gala Day and presenting displays in various locations, such as the Lochgelly Centre foyer.

Secretary George Elder commented, “The community council’s biggest responsibility is to consult and engage with residents, as their views should be the basis of any response to developments like this.” Lochgelly Community Council’s online survey and the development documents are available to view at www.lochgellycommunitycouncil.com and are being updated continuously as more information is made available.

George Elder added, “We hope the people of Lochgelly take this opportunity and let us know their thoughts, and to help we will be producing leaflets allowing those without internet access to participate, above all take part in the two minute survey and when you see us at our street stall, come up and find out more about the development and make your voice heard.” Lochgelly Community Council anticipate the consultation will run until the end of August at the earliest.

The AMEC Wind Farm proposal will see the six turbines developed between the Lochore Meadows loch and Lochgelly and it is a plan which is set to have a new Kelty entrance to the park developed along with a number of special nature impact aspects in the vicinity of the turbines.

There is also a significant community fund element to the proposal plus the possibility of one of the turbines being community owned.
