THE celebration of any major anniversary can be a worry for the organisers.

And for Lochgelly and District Musical Association the marking of their 80th birthday was a no different.

LADMA chose a revue for their 80th anniversary production and there were concerns that traditionalists might be sceptical of the move. But they need not have worried for it turned out to be a huge success with audiences piling into Lochgelly Centre theatre for Broadway and Back.

It was a show which had some famous numbers from famous productions and the LADMA cast was excellent in their portrayal of some exacting numbers.

These included That’s Life from The Rat Pack: Live from Las Vegas, by Adam Campbell; Singin’ in the Rain, by the Dancers; Can’t Help Lovin’ Dat Man from Showboat, by Katie McNulty; The Song That Goes Like This from Spamalot, from Kirstin Breeze and Mark Grieve; and the medley from Phantom of the Opera, as portayed by Erin Gilliland-Patterson, Craig Tait and company.

There were also Children Will Listen from Into The Woods, and But Doi from Miss Saigon, by David Mutch and a superb rendition of If I Were A Rich Man from Association president Bill Paul; plus Big Spender from Sweet Charity, from Kirstin Breeze and Adam Campbell; and Wonderful, Wonderful Day from Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, by Erin Gilliland-Patterson Campbell Then came the big finish with Thank You For The Music and Waterloo from Mamma Mia by the company.

It was a show which celebrated LADMA’s 80th anniversary in style and was warmly praised by the good audiences. Director Margaret Paul; musical director Suzanne Stewart and choreographers Yvonne Tait and Donna Ewing had every right to be proud of their charges.

LADMA president Bill Paul was delighted with the way things turned out, "It was a great way to celebrate the the 80th anniversary and the audiences were excellent."
