FIFE Council wants views on guidance which will help shape future new places.

The ‘Making Fife’s Places’ guidance showcases some of the most attractive new and traditional places in Fife and describes what makes them successful.

It includes the new builds on Lochgelly Main Street which can be seen from our picture.

It sets a benchmark of welcoming and distinctive places that are safe and easy to move around, resource efficient and which will be able to adapt to changes in the future.

The guidance covers the design of streets, buildings and greenspaces, built and natural heritage, sustainability and public art, and will support Fife’s planning policies.

A consultation on the new guidance is open now and will run until 2nd June 2015.

Depute council leader Lesley Laird, spokesperson for Economy and Planning said, “We know that attractive well connected places can really improve the quality of life of the people who live and work in them.

“The views of Fifers are important and we’d like as many people as possible to take part in the consultation.” To see the guidance and make a comment go to www.fifedirect.org.uk/fifeplan
