LOCAL MSP Alex Rowley has praised the facilities at the Lochgelly High School Community Use Sports and Leisure Centre following a visit to the facility.

The facilities at the LHS Community Use have been upgraded through investment of around a quarter of a million pounds and include new astro surfaces, a spin cycle studio and a refurbished cafe along with new gym equipment.

Mr Rowley said, “I was delighted to see the new and upgraded facilities when I joined with local councillor Mark Hood and meet staff to hear how things were going at what is a top sport and leisure centre on the doorstep of both Lochgelly and Benarty.

“Whilst there is more to be done, the upgrading of the astro pitches, along with a revamp of the gym area and fitness rooms and the new equipment that has been installed, is proving very popular with both the pupils in school time and the wider public in the evenings and weekends.

“Mark Hood is working hard to secure further funding that will see the changing facilities upgraded and is urging everyone to pop in and have a look at the much improved facilities and also the swimming pool”.

Classes for induction into the fitness room can be booked any evening and Sunday and there are a range of other classes such as spinning. Just call 01592583493 or pop in to the centre any evening or on a Sunday morning.

The Centre is hoping to increase the numbers coming through the door and taking part in sport demonstrating that the new investment is encouraging more people to get involved in sport and leisure activity.
