THE development work on Lochgelly Public Park continues with the lighting columns being put in place.

Lochgelly Community Council was told that these will hopefully make the park a safer place for people to be in during the darker evenings. Further planting work will continue over the coming months, including the creation of wild flower areas on the old tennis courts, the building of a multi-use games area, and another twelve cherry blossom trees. Council chairman, Stevie Murray, who has been pushing this project, commented, “At times it has been frustratingly slow, however, when the Council employees get to work on the area you immediately see the progress. “This park is well used by residents and has been under invested for decades. It is good that this Community Council is the driving force behind its regeneration, which many will enjoy for years to come.” Councillors were also advised of the new Community Council web-site which will allow more people to see what the council does.

Added Stevie, “It will have a portal to raise concerns with us directly and offer an unbiased view on the developments in our area. Whilst the council cannot deal directly with all individual problems as such, we can redirect them and advise where necessary and the most appropriate course of action.”
