A LOCHGELLY man who grabbed a woman and “dragged” her indoors in a rage will have to carry out unpaid work.

In December, the Times told you how Daniel Macdonald Winton (22) subjected the woman to verbal abuse before seizing her by the clothes in the assault at an address in Paul Street on 13th August 2013.

Winton and the woman had been with each other the evening before, and he started shouting at her the next day about hearing a conversation she was having with a friend in the kitchen, before committing the offence.

Sentence was deferred for a criminal justice social work report to be prepared and Winton (22) appeared at Dunfermline Sheriff Court again on Wednesday.

Winton, whose addresses were in Chapel Street, Lochgelly, and Dallas Drive, Kirkcaldy, admitted behaving in a threatening or abusive manner which was likely to cause fear or alarm, and repeatedly shouted and swore and seized her by the clothing.

In addition, he admitted that on 18th December 2013, at an address in Carden Castle Park, acting in an aggressive manner, assaulting the woman, repeatedly stamp on her foot and repeatedly push her on the body, causing her to fall back, and also behaved in a threatening or abusive manner, shouting, swearing, and throwing items around and uttering threats of violence.

He also pleaded guilty to breaching bail conditions at an address in Carden Castle Park, Cardenden on 25th February 2014, not to approach, contact or communicate, or attempt to approach, contact or communicate with the woman, by using Facebook messages sent to a second woman.

Solicitor, Lucy Durie, said the social work report was “fairly positive” and Winton had “managed to change his life around”.

She said Winton and the woman had “moved on”, adding, “He’s aware of the impact of his behaviour.

“He’s disgusted and ashamed of his behaviour. He’s only 22 and this could be a turning point.” Sheriff Craig McSherry imposed a community payback order, with Winton having to carry out 120 hours of unpaid work within a six months period.
