Daniel Macdonald Winton (22), of 30 Chapel Street, committed the offence at an address in Paul Street on 13th August last year.

He admitted behaving in a threatening or abusive manner which was likely to cause fear or alarm, and repeatedly shouted and swore and seized the woman by the clothing.

Fiscal depute Cheryl Clark told Dunfermline Sheriff Court last Wednesday that Winton and the woman had been with each other the evening before.

Around noon the next day Winton went for a bath while the woman and a friend spoke in the kitchen. She heard Winton in the bedroom after the bath and went in to speak with him – but he started shouting at her about hearing a conversation she was having in the kitchen.

Ms Clark said, “She tried to calm him down and reassure him. He continued to get dressed and continued to shout, calling her derogatory names.” Eventually the woman asked her friend to leave and then asked Winton to leave, and that she would try to get her friend to remove him.

She opened the door but he followed her into the garden, continued to shout and swear, then grabbed her by the hood of her top and dragged her inside.

However, the woman managed to leave the property and contacted the police.

When interviewed by officers, Winton, who has previous convictions for assault, admitted, “I did shout at her and did call her names like she did to me.” Winton, represented by solicitor Sarah Meehan, also pleaded guilty to breaching bail conditions at 11 Carden Castle Park, Cardenden on 25th February, not to approach, contact or communicate, or attempt to approach, contact or communicate with the woman, by using Facebook messages sent to a second woman.

Sheriff Christopher Shead deferred sentence until 14th January for a criminal justice social work report to be prepared.
