DETERMINED young pupils at Lochgelly West Primary School have been working as hard as ever and have reached the milestone of collecting 1000 tins of food to donate to Benarty Foodbank.

The youngsters have set themselves the Tin Trail Challenge, trying to amass 4200 tins of food to donate by Christmas. That is the number needed to line the West Way, the path that runs the perimeter of the school.

The staff and pupils alike wanted to thank people for the overwhelming response so far, which sees the total now sitting at 1000 tins. However, the children are not willing to rest at that. They still need around 3000 tins to complete their challenge and are asking for even more help from the local community. Drop-off points have been set up in Lochgelly library, as well as in many of the shops and businesses around the town.

Children and staff are also involved in ongoing fundraising throughout the month of December, including bag packing, a sponsored Tinsel Tin Trek and in-school fundraising.

To support this worthy cause, get in touch with the school or Lochgelly library to see how you can help.
