COMMUNICATION is what it is about at Lochgelly High School community use department.

And they held a small presentation last Thursday to present certificates to nine adult learners for their achievement in attaining a Level 1 in BSL. The course is designed to enable learners to communicate with deaf people in British Sign Language on a range of topics that involve simple, everyday language use.

The course is approximately 80 hours long, runs over 40 weeks and students had to sit and pass three assessments. Tutor Marie Gilmour praised the hard work of the class and said, “It was one of the most hard working and enjoyable groups I have taught in my seven years teaching experience at Lochgelly Community Use.” Lochgelly runs a variety of adult and children’s classes with everything from learning the guitar to lifeguard courses and Zumba.
