AMONG the £6m of investment coming to Lochgelly over the next few months will be the RockGelly project and a new family nurture centre at the Sunflower Nursery.

In addition there will also be work taking place at in the public park, in partnership with the town’s community council.

At St Andrews Church a £700k investment will see a redevelopment and a rear extension creating a building ready to house Fife’s first rock climbing facility.

Councillor Mark Hood said, “This is an important local building and it’s great to see it being given a new lease of life.

“As well as being a new facility for local children it will also attract a number of visitors to the town boosting the local development. Work will be starting over the next six months and hopefully opening its doors in 2016.” The New Family Nurture Centre, at the Sunflower, will see a new extension created and Councillor Linda Erskine added, “Investing in families and in the early years of a child’s development is an important in addressing inequalities in our community”.

She continued, “The £750k extension to the Sunflower n will create a purpose built facility that will support local families for years to come.

“The new facility is expected to open its doors in the next six months to local families.” Councillor Hood (pictured at the public park), praised the work of the Lochgelly Community Council is helping to pull together plans for the redevelopment of the town’s Public Park.

Commenting Mr Hood said, “The work redeveloping Lochgelly public park has been done in partnership with Lochgelly Community Council environmental group.

“As we move into the winter months we will see the work continuing with a new play area for children, a floodlit games area, a sensory garden and a new football pitch. In total the public park will benefit from over £350k in investment”.

In conclusion Mrs Erskine said “The funding that has been allocated by the administration and investment that has been attracted, will start to deliver projects that will make a huge impact in Lochgelly and the surrounding area for years to come. We will continue to ensure these projects are delivered and keep an eye on other opportunities for our communities”.
