THE end of August saw the close of the national Summer Reading Challenge at the Jennie Lee Library, in Lochgelly, and the last of the storytelling and craft sessions held throughout the school holidays.

Around the theme of the Mythical Maze, library staff organised various related activities to promote the challenge for children to read six library books and to have further fun – for example decorating picture frames with mosaic pieces after listening to the story ‘Cinder the Bubble Blowing Dragon’.

Lochgelly Facilities Supervisor Ann Belton said, “Approximately 5000 primary school children took up the ‘a-maze-ing’ challenge in libraries throughout Fife to earn certificates and little prizes – and, we hope, to help keep up good reading habits to impress their teachers during the new school term!” Our photograph shows the children with their mosaic frames and CSA Carrie Stewart with the book she read to the group.
