FIFE College students were delighted with the support they received from staff and publlic at Lochgelly Fire Station on Friday as they raised money for a community project.

The students are working in the grounds of Abbey Field Care Home, in West Fife carrying out improvements and they hope the money raised from Friday’s initiative will assist them.

To have a car washed by the hard working students, who are based at the Dunfermline Fife College Campus, cost £2 and they were delighted at the steady stream of vehicles which arrived at the Lumphinnans Road station.

Said tutor at Fife College, Willie McEwan, “The students are really committed to the project and they enjoyed working in the warm sunshine.” The young people are all on the 12 week employability course at the college and their community project is a key element of it.

Added Willie, “We have had backing before from firefighters in Kirkcaldy so we were delighted with the support we got from the Lochgelly station for this venture.

“And the motorists who used the facility were very generous so we would like to thank them.

“The students will use the money raised to carry out improvement works to the gardens at the Abbey Field Care Home in Dunfermline.” The employability course is always looking for potential students and applications can be made online or by calling the College.
