PEOPLE have a week left to register their vote for The Happy Lands film in the National Lottery Awards.

And Cowdenbeath FC’s squad is urging people to cast their vote for the film which tells the story of a mining family in the 1926 General Strike and which features over 100 local people who volunteered to take part in the community film venture.

Two of the cast, Stuart Watson and and Archie King, had their photo taken with the players on Friday and they were given the backing of them. Said Stuart, “The lads were very supportive and it is good that they are backing us. Hopefully, everyone in the Cowdenbeath-Lochgelly area will follow their example.” The Happy Lands is the only Scottish project competing against six other organisations from around the UK to win the Best Arts Category and have the chance to appear on BBC One in September.

The film has now been shown all around the world and has been a huge success. To get the National Lottery Award would be the icing on the cake. But to achieve that it needs the support and votes of the public of the Cowdenbeath-Lochgelly area.

Voting closes on the 23rd of July. http://www.lotterygoodcauses.org.uk/awards/arts Picture by Jillian McFarlane.
