The family of Sean Stark say they are satisfied that "justice has been done" following the conviction of his killer last week.

John Blake was handed a life sentence and will serve a minimum of 17 years for the brutal slaying of the 25-year-old father on May 31st this year.

In a joint statement released on behalf of the entire family, Sean's parents, Mary and Eddie, said, "We are relieved that John Connor Blake has been found guilty of the murder of our son Sean.

"Sean continues to be missed and although we have had to move on, there is a huge gap left by the murder of Sean, our beloved son. His partner Mel, now has to bring their children up without a father. Life will never be the same again."

"Nothing will bring Sean back, but justice has been done and I can rest knowing my son's killer has been found guilty."

The family began a campaign to raise awareness of the dangers of carrying a knife shortly after Sean's death.

Charity events have been held in Lochgelly, raising thousands of pounds for Sean's Martner Melanie and their two young children.

Mary said, "As a family we plead with young and old people alike to think twice about carrying knives and to think about the consequences of their actions. We hope and pray that no other family has to go through the pain that we have."

The family also thanked everyone who has helped them since Sean's death.

"We have been overwhelmed by the support we have been given police, ambulance, hospital and court staff, undertakers, family, friends and the community of Lochgelly and beyond. So many people have touched our hearts," Mary added.
