LOCHGELLY High School pupils celebrated their love of reading with various quizzes and competitions as part of their belated (due to snow) World Book Day celebrations.

Pupils across the school took part in a brief ‘Guess the Novel’ competition in registration time.

This was followed by year group quizzes for S1 and S2 before morning break.

The young people were extremely enthusiastic and competitive as they pitted their knowledge of literature against one another, but two groups came out on top from each year!

Throughout the day, there was also a “Who’s behind the book” competition taking place in the LRC.

One of the S1 pupils, Jack Brockie, proved himself to be the most skilful in guessing the highest number of members of staff who were disguising themselves behind their favourite novel.

Finally, the pupils showed off their wonderful creative skills by designing their own bookmarks during their lunch break.

Well done to everyone who took part in this – the completed bookmarks will be displayed in the LRC and also copied for future pupils to make use of!

A special well done to our first, second and third place winners, though, who were Jamie Henderson (S1), Erin Cuthbert (S4) and Aidan Cuthbert (S1) respectively.
