THIS week's Down Memory Lane selection of pictures comes from Lochgelly history guru Roy Whitehead.

He said: "One as taken of a function, I believe in the Masonic Hall in North

Street, around the mid 50s although this could be incorrect.

Sitting fourth and fifth from the right are Jim and Mag Steele who had the

haberdashery shop in Main Street almost at the Fire Station that was.

"Another is of the McDonald sisters taken around 1890. At the time they lived at 20 Well Road.Sitting on the right is Helen McDonald (DOB 1867) who married John Plunkett, standing is Bridget McDonald (DOB 1863) and sitting left is Rose McDonald (DOB1873) who married Curly Sharp and lived in Parkview.

"Then there is a photograph of William Gibson who was killed at the battle of Loos en Chapelle in 1915. Prior to his wedding he lived in Grainger Street. William had been a regular with the KOSB and as a reservist was recalled at the beginning of the Great War. At that time he was married to Maggie McDonald and was the caretaker of Glencraig Institute. William's father was killed working on the construction of the Forth

Railway bridge.

"The last one is Lochgelly South School from 1946-47. The teacher was Mrs Westwater".
