THE communities of Lochgelly and Benarty will be seeing plenty of St Serfs Church's new outreach worker,Aileen Christie.

Aileen took up her post less than two weeks ago but already she has been delighted with the warmth of the welcome she has received.

She makes up the three pronged team at St Serfs, in Benarty and Lochgelly, with minister Rev Geoff Probert and Parish assistant Pam Scott.

Said Aileen, who stays in Dunfermline and at one time ran the Cowdenbeath Girls Brigade troop: "I have spent quite a bit of time in both Benarty and Lochgelly since I took up the appointment and the warmth of the people of both these places is amazing.

"My role is to provide a link with the communities of Lochgelly and Benarty and helping make connections that work for people and groups.

"I hope to be able to help all age groups and I will be seeking to strengthen the good links St Serfs has with schools in Lochgelly and Benarty."

Aileen was at the Drop-in held at the church hall in Lochgelly on Thursday morning and she said that the brilliant thing about that event was that it included people from different parts of Fife who were visiting friends and relatives and knowing of the rapport of it wanted to be there.

She continued: "That really says it all that the reputation of the event draws people from other communities and that is something that can be built on.

"I am really looking forward to helping build up the links St Serfs has with people and organisations in Benarty and Lochgelly."
