LOCHGELLY'S charity cyclist extraordinaire is busy organising his planned summer charity 24 mile cycle to Milnathort and back and is hoping to have some 20 people taking part.

Andrew is maybe in his seventies now, but the the Ballingry Street cyclist still loves packing in the miles.

He is set to organise his third sponsored event for CHAS which this year will take place on Sunday June 17.

Said Andrew: "We will have a round trip of 24 miles from Lochgelly to Milnathort and back for the people taking part in the fundraiser.

"Everyone who takes part will receive a new CHAS shirt to wear and will receive a certificate once the event has been completed.

"I am hoping that we can maybe get as many as 20 people involved in the sponsored cycle.

"Already I have had 11 people come forward wanting to take part and once word gets around what is happening hopefully a few more will come forward."

He added that after the event the management of Mrs Brown's Buns Cafe on Bank Street would be providing refreshments.

Andrew has been taking part in sponsored cycles for many, many years. He spent a lot of time raising upwards of £60,000 for Lymphoma Research over a period of a decade, taking part in a sponsored cycle run from Kingussie.

When these stopped due to the organisers having to give up he decided to back CHAS and over the past two years has helped raise over £7,000 for the children's hospice charity.

He wants anyone who would like to get involved to give him a call on 01592 781482.
