A LOCHGELLY company has denied two breaches of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1972 causing injury to Ian Bratchie which resulted in his death.

The trial at Dunfermline Sheriff Court, on Thursday, heard how a lorry ran over Mr Bratchie, a mechanic working on it, at the Cartmore premises of Robert Purvis Plant Hire on September 3 2015.

The Court heard that an HGV was due to be repaired at the Cartmore Industrial Estate Yard of Purvis but as there was no space left the driver put it in a tipper lorry parking area about 70 yards away.

When he returned later that day the lorry was blocking the way for returning tipper lorries and he went to move the vehicle.

When working on vehicles mechanics were told to use signs and steering wheel covers if necessary to indicate it was being worked on and should not be moved, but the driver said he could not see any at that time.

The trial before Sheriff Christopher Shead continues today.
