A LOCAL man was shocked by seeing youngsters appearing to succeed in killing birds in Lochgelly.

Craig Wilson was on his way home from a trip to Lochore Meadows Country Park, when he witnessed children stoning birds to death.

After this, he said they took a bird and placed it on the road 'to be squashed by cars and were laughing'.

Said Craig: "I chased them along the road on my motorbike and found that they seemed to be part of the community that live in the caravan park behind Cartmore.

"I called the police but I have not heard of any outcome, but this experience really has seriously concerned me."

Added Craig: "It deeply saddens me that children could find this funny or amusing but more so, it worries me that they will eventually go on to killing other things later in life.

"I have an action plan which involves the RSPCA, the council and other relevant organisations to see what can be done to stop these poor animals being tortured.

"Vermin or not, the birds have young in nests who rely purely on their mum to feed them and if not, they die too!

"It is not something anyone would want to witness."
