LOCHGELLY'S Christmas Lights are now dominating the centre of the town as it gets an early festive feel.

The Christmas Tree and Lights Switch-on took place on Wednesday evening and the town square was very busy as people of all ages turned up to enjoy the music and special message.

There were free glow wands distributed to children and the carol singers were accompanied by the Lochgelly High School ensemble.

The Christmas Message was read by Major Mary McDonald, of the Lochgelly Salvation Army, in Auchterderran Road, then after the switch-on the Lochgelly High pipers led the Torch Lit Parade down to the Town Hall where Mr and Ms Clause was waiting to meet the children.

Such was the volume of people involved many were using the staircase at Knockhill Close to get a better view!

After the excellent musical build-up the Christmas lights were switched on by the town's Citizen of the Year, Karen Yeoman, and Junior Citizen of the Year, Daniel Pratt.

Down at the Town Hall the Christmas Fayre was in full swing with many people taking advantage of the various stalls to get some presents.

Refreshments were served and mums and dads had the opportunity to pick up a bargain at the stalls. The raffle was drawn on the night.

The Christmas Lights Group's Eileen McKenna said: "It was a really good night with the weather being pretty kind.

"There was a superb turn out and later on the Town Hall was really busy.

"We would like to thank everyone who has helped keep Lochgelly twinkling this Christmas and those who turned out on the night."
