POLICE are asking the Lochgelly public for their help in tracing two men involved in an incident in the town in the early hours of Monday.

There was quite a lot of concern among residents in Timmons Park when it appeared that a lit implement was placed at the door of a house.

Said a police spokesperson on Tuesday: "Police were called to a premises on Timmons Park in Lochgelly at around 3.25am on Monday November 6 following a report of a fire.

"The incident is being treated as wilful fireraising and is currently believed to be isolated.

"Officers are eager to trace two men seen leaving the scene in a small dark car and anyone with information is urged to contact Dunfermline CID via 101, quoting incident number 0339 of 6th November, or report this anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."

A resident, who wished to remain anonymous, said he had been really concerned with what happened and said: "It was quite alarming to hear about an incident which saw someone deposit something lit at a door of a house.

"It appears soured relations has led to what was potentially a life threatening attack.

"The emergency services swiftly responded, and must be thanked for ensuring that no one was injured."

The small black coloured vehicle that was used by the two people the police wish to contact was thought to be a car like a Vauxhall Corsa.
