THE experience of a Lochgelly family made them determined to raise cash for the Victoria Hospice and Macmillan.

Steven Izatt explained: "When Aunt Liz contracted cancer it was quite a shock and she became very ill indeed.

"The work of the Macmillan nurses was completely outstanding and was so helpful to the family and then later the staff at the hospice were also outstanding.

"We decided to hold a big fundraiser and it took the form of an 80s disco in Torleys and what a night it was.

"We raised £710 and decided to split it equally between Macmillan and the Hospice."

Steven thanked everyone who went to the event or contributed in any way and noted that donations by football clubs Rangers, Celtic and Manchester United raised £110 and he thanked the clubs for their support.

He also thanked his mother Mary for purchasing the food for the buffet on the night.
