LOCHGELLY Christmas Lights Group are seeking support to ensure they can meet the £7,000 plus needed to 'make the town twinkle' this festive season.

Secretary of the Group, Christine McGrath, explained this week that already the Group had contacted the town's business community looking for support.

Said Christine: "This year our estimated costs are £7,000 and we are seeking funding from various sources.

"We hope that people will look favourably on donating to the cause whether it be a raffle prize to help fundraising or a cash donation, all aimed to make Lochgelly twinkle once again."

The Christmas Tree and Lights Switch-on and carol service will take place on Wednesday November 22 at 5.45pm.

There will free glow wands will be distributed to children and the carol singers will be accompanied by the Lochgelly High School ensemble.

The Christmas Message will be read by Major Mary McDonald, of the Lochgelly Salvation Army, in Auchterderran Road, then after the switch-on the Lochgelly HS pipers will lead the Torch Lit Parade down to the Town Hall where Mr and Ms Clause will be waiting to meet the children.

Refreshments will be served and mums and dads will have the opportunity to pick up a bargain at the many stalls that will be there. The raffle will be drawn on the night.
