COWDENBEATH MSP Annabelle Ewing heaped praised on the young artistes of the Lochgelly Youth Theatre Project.

Ms Ewing attended the recent Lochgelly Youth production of Hairspray at the Lochgelly Centre and she was impressed with what she saw.

In a few short weeks from being set up the Lochgelly Youth cast, made up of mostly youngsters from the area, were able to put on a top class performance of this well known musical.

With Lochgelly High School pupil Liam Nardone volunteering to direct the show as well as play one of the roles it turned into a tremendous community event with the local business community supporting it and also the show playing to two big houses at the Centre.

Ms Ewing said: “It was an absolute delight to be able to attend Lochgelly Youth’s production of Hairspray which was absolutely fizzing with energy.

“I want to give a big shout out to the director Liam Nardone as well as to the entire the cast and everyone involved in putting the show together.  All their hard work really paid off.

“I was pleased to be accompanied to the show by the local MSYPs for Cowdenbeath constituency, Bailey-Lee Robb and Cailyn McMahon, and we are greatly looking forward to next year's production of Fame.”
