THERE may only be days to go until the eagerly anticipated Game-a-thon to celebrate Lochgelly High School's 30th birthday, but that doesn’t mean they don’t need your support!!

The event begins on Friday August 18 and will end with a Massed Pipe Band procession through the town on Saturday.

Months of preparation and hard work have gone into the Lochgelly High School 30th Anniversary celebrations and the Game-a-thon is the exciting culmination of all of it.

All staff and students have spent their summer collecting sponsorship for their chosen charities and warming up for a full 24 hours of game playing!

The sponsored events will include Ultimate Frisbee, football, Monopoly, Just Dance and Pinball - something for everyone.

The charities the pupils have chosen are The Polar Academy, Macmillan Cancer Support and The Anthony Nolan Trust.

Said the school's depute rector, Sarah Wozniak: "We are hoping any musicians with a connection to our Pipe Band or Mandy Miller, our Principal Teacher of Music, will come along and get involved with our procession on Saturday. For details please contact Miss Miller directly at: mandy.miller@fife.gov.uk.

"We have had an outstanding level of support and commitment from the local community with businesses offering sponsorship, refreshments and donating games.

"The aim of this event is not only to celebrate three decades of scholastic achievement but also the wonderful community of which our school is a part". She added: "Our celebrations aim to convey the pride, tradition and local spirit present throughout Lochgelly. All support is welcomed and we hope to see you lining the streets on Saturday".

The school pupils return to LHS today (Wednesday) and will be eagerly getting ready for the celebrations of Friday and Saturday.
