LITTLE Lochgelly girl, Ava Stark, was the star guest at a special fundraiser held in Cowdenbeath by the Jamie Kerr Memorial Fund.

Jamie is the Cowdenbeath soldier who was killed in action in Iraq in the mid 2000s and each year funds are raised through events and this year it was decided by the fund organisers to split the proceeds, from the fundraising show held at Broad Street Bowling Club, with Ava, the three year-old girl who just before Christmas had a stem cell transplant after a massive campaign to find her a cell donor.

Ava has been adopted by the Anthony Nolan Trust to be the face of their campaign this year to persuade people to become stem cell donors.

She is still on the road to full recovery but she was delighted to pop along with her mum to the fundraising show.

Said the Jamie Kerr Memorial Fund’s, Bobby Thomson: “The support the Fund has from Gary Roy and the staff at Wee Jimmie’s, in Cowdenbeath, and also the people at Broad Street Bowling Club, is quite amazing and the recent fundraiser was a night which saw some amazing singers such as Pamela Davie, Kim Wilson and Erin Robertson, going on stage along with a cameo performance from Vicky Kinloch, and it all produced a tremendous night’s entertainment.

“There was no doubt though that the star of the show was little Ava Stark who made a very special guest appearance and she boogied the night away quite merrily, without any alcohol I hasten to add!

“At the end of the night the monies were totalled and with donations from Ideal Computers for both charities and also funds donated by staff at Kassy’s Kitchen on the town’s High Street as well as Morrison’s store, it all came to a fantastic £1,200.”

Raffle prizes were donated and also a Phil Taylor darts shirt signed by ‘The Power,’ which was donated by Dove Rattray. This has been kept back, Bobby explained, as they are looking for bids and if anyone wants to lodge a bid they can give Bobby, Peter Scally or Vicki Kinloch a shout on Facebook.

Added Bobby: “We would like to thank everyone at Broad Street Bowling Club who contributed to the sum raised and also the singers who were magnificent.

“It really was a completely massive effort and brilliantly done.”

The committee added that there are going to be more things happening as well as the possible amalgamation of the two charities in Lochgelly under a possible title of ‘The Stand-up for Emma and Ava Foundation’.

If anyone wants to donate or help in any way then contact Bobby, Peter Scally, Vicki Kinloch or Carlos Webster at the Woodside Hotel, in Broad Street, Cowdenbeath.
