A LOCHGELLY man has found himself being harassed by a group of young people who say they want a skatepark in the public park.

Over the past few months James Miller, from Hall Street, has found his windows constantly under attack from the youths on their way past his home heading for the public park.

Said James: "This has been a truly strange situation because while they have being constantly throwing things at my windows they have not been trying to break them although on one occasion a window was cracked and had to be replaced.

"On one occasion I got so fed up with it I went outside and asked them why this was happening and they responded by saying they would not stop until a skatepark was built in the public park that they could use!"

Among the items that have been thrown at the window of the downstairs flat have been sweets, plastic bottles and small stones, which have severely scratched some of the windows.

Added James, 35, who suffers from spells of anxiety and depression: "I called the police and they came but said that I needed to give them names of the culprits.

"I have also contacted the council housing office who said it was a police issue, but the thing is it is council property that is being damaged.

"The thing is that the night I went out and confronted the youngsters they made it clear that they had simply picked on my flat because of its proximity and that they were making a point about getting at skatepark."

Fife Council has included Lochgelly Public Park on its skatepark project schedule and within the next few months the base for it should be going down.

Added James: "I hope that when the skatepark arrives I get some peace."
