THE project which offers befriending to elderly people is looking for people needing it and also volunteers.

TIBAL (Together in Benarty and Lochgelly) is an organisation that started several years ago in order to promote and benefit the people in Benarty and Lochgelly.

But, due to a lack of funding the project phased out in 2012. However, it was relaunched in 2016 and has been able to help several elderly folk in the district.

Said Rev Geoff Probert of St Serf's in Benarty and Lochgelly: "The project is designed as a befriending service to those who need it in the area.

"We are looking for volunteers to assist with the visitation of the elderly and those in need.

"We are also looking for people who might benefit from the services offered. We hope to work in partnership with local faith communities, other agencies and organisations and local and statutory authorities wherever possible to develop the services that meet the needs of the area.

"TIBAL’S work will be one of careful research, consultation, evaluation and monitoring. If you know of anyone who would like to become involved as a volunteer in the Elderly Befriending Project or if you know of anyone who might benefit from the services of TIBAL, please feel free to contact myself GEOFF PROBERT on 07491139129".
