DO you know any of the history of Lochgelly's bell.

The Lochgelly Heritage Group is currently researching the history of the bell found in the roof of Lochgelly Town House during its recent conversion.

The find came as the Town House was being converted into flats but knowledge about the bell is scant.

Said the Heritage Group's May King: "Unfortunately there seems to be very little information about its purpose, although there have been suggestions including a warning bell in case of air-raids during World War 1.

"The bell, when refurbished, will be sited in the new garden square to be created to the rear of the ‘Rockgelly’ conversion of the former St Andrew's Church".

The Heritage Group has been asked to create a storyboard to accompany it.

This will also include the history of the Town House and the creation of Lochgelly as a burgh.

If you have any information about the bell or pictures we could use for the story board, please contact the Heritage Group at - lochgellycommunityforum@gmail.com
