LOCHGELLY High School celebrated the 30th Anniversary Old Folks’ Easter Treat on Wednesday in the school dining hall.

The afternoon has become an institution within the local community and the senior guests certainly enjoyed their afternoon entertainment.

The transformation of the dining hall is a real team effort and members from across the school community all play their part, whether they be catering staff, janitors, technicians, teachers, pupils, clerical staff and pupil support assistants.

Table toppers and bunting created by pupils within their Art and Design classes created the perfect setting for the afternoon’s events.

S3 hospitality pupils, led by their teachers Mrs Grindlay and Miss Hayes, spent the day preparing cakes and sandwiches for their guests and then served teas and coffees once they had taken their seats. They were also busy selling raffle tickets and more than £250 was raised for local charities

The afternoon’s entertainment was, as always, provided by the school’s music department and there were a range of performances from the strings, brass, wind band, steel band and of course our world champion pipe band with performers covering the full age range of the school.

Speaking of the Easter Treat, Rector Carol Ann Penrose said: “I know how much the old folks enjoy their annual afternoon with us here at Lochgelly High School.

"We can always rely on the young people to be at their very best and it is the perfect way to cap off the term”.
