A SENIOR councillor has raised fears that funding of local projects is under threat if SNP councillors form the next administration of Fife Council in May.

Councillor Mark Hood's comments come following hundreds of thousands of pounds being allocated to projects across the Cowdenbeath-Lochgelly area.

Speaking to the Times Mr Hood said: "We know SNP councillors voted against an additional £24m investment and have been clear that they intend to amend the investment plan if they form the next administration.

"I'm particularly concerned that the £750k investment in Phase 2 of the Lochore Meadows Country Park, the new investment in local play facilities and £200k allocated to Mining Heritage is not lost.

"Local groups who have had funding allocated to their project need to be sure that the investment they have will not be withdrawn.

"I'm calling on SNP candidates in the Cowdenbeath area to promise not to remove funding already allocated".

Chair of Cowdenbeath Area Committee, Mr Hood concluded: "The current administration has invested nearly £50m in the Cowdenbeath area over the last five years. We need to make sure that this level of investment maintained."
