THE community garden is set to take shape in the Lochgelly over the next few weeks.

Work should be completed by the end of the month and the former tennis courts have had the surface taken of them over the past few days.

There will be raised flower beds and seating areas in the community garden. The Public Park Improvement Group have also aimed to make it accessible for all and have funded a new pathway for wheelchair access.

The lower level will be grassed over initially whilst funding is secured for a new play park area.

Work will also commence on the new skate park over the next few weeks. The designs for the skate park were developed by experts in that area.

The PPIG's Stevie Murray added: "We already know that the MUGA court is a tremendous addition to the park.

"Fife Council community workers asked young people of the town for their preference. At the times funds weren't available for both.

"With this in mind they responded that their first choice was the MUGA. But they would have preferred both. Now we have secured finding to bring another excellent facility to the park.

"These projects are being driven forward by volunteers on the Public Park Improvement Group. We will have a park that we can all share, be proud off and enjoy."
