LOCHGELLY High School is 30 years old in 2017 and one of the events planned to celebrate the milestone is a calendar looking back to 1987 and at the good news stories of of the modern era.

It has been specially produced using photographs from the LHS archive and the staff team of 1987 under the school's first rector, Jack Yuille, is one of the features.

Rector of 2017, Carol Ann Penrose, said this week that there would be a lot of events marking the anniversary.

She said: "This year we would like to use the celebration of the 1987 opening as a platform from which to encourage greater involvement with our parents and community partners.

"We hope to draw the school out and welcome the community back in through planning a range of exciting events and shows throughout the year.

"It is true that we already have a great partnerships, some established many years ago and still going strong and we are grateful for that.

"Without such strong relationships we should not be able to enrich the life experiences of all to nearly the same extent and so thank you."

Carol Ann added: "Lochgelly High School is a very special place and this is because of all the children, the staff and those around us.

"We are here to make a difference and we know that we have a positive impact.

"It is a privilege to he headteacher of such a vibrant, caring and successful school.

"I wish everyone a wonderful year and urge people to keep a look out for our community events on our website www.lochgellyhighschool.co.uk or follow us on Twitter@LochgellyHS."
