THE Lochgelly community is rallying behind little Emma Beggs, who at the age of one is not letting fighting cancer get her down.

Emma has a strong supporter in her corner in the shape of six year old brother Ewan, a pupil at Lochgelly West Primary School, who is pictured with her and he is hoping that there will be a huge turn out at a fundraising event being held next month to raise funds for Emma's family to help her in the fight to overcome her illness.

Lochgelly Citizen of the Year, Karen Yeoman, who is part of the Spirit of Lochgelly Community Group, who helps so many local causes, is helping promote the event being held on Saturday February 11.

Karen said this week: "Emma was diagnosed with cancer in November 2016 and she is only just over a year old.

"Some friends of her mum, Sonja, are doing what they can to help the family by organising some fundraisers, the first of which is on Saturday February 11 at 7pm which is an adult only event with the fabulous band Little Big Sound as entertainment.

"Tickets are £10 and that also includes a buffet. There are some great raffle prizes in so far including Herbalife, a Sara Webster photography voucher; vouchers for the Driftland track at Lochgelly; a signed Fife Flyers Ice Hockey team shirt, as well as vouchers.

"The kids won't be missing out either though as there will also be an event for families with Kenny the Clown, character visits, a disco, and fun 'n games with prizes. There will be a small raffle at this event too, the following week on Sunday February 19 from 1 to 3pm with both events held in Torleys ... We hope that there will be big turn out at both events."
